I need to add a flair to this post, but I have no idea what a flair is. Some kind of icon, I guess, to show the world what I really am? I just want to make a post describing the dilemma that meteorology currently has regarding anticyclones. That problem is that they are artifacts from opposite sides of the world, created when a large eruption sends out the signal that it is very active. At first there is no problem that Anticyclone has been placed among the other icons and indicates that the weather is setting up for some very nice, sunny, warm things for us all to enjoy for a while. The problem comes when it finally runs out a week or so later. Meteorologists have no mechanism to prove that their model is correct. So what they do is move the descending line to the left or right and place a ring of spirals around it to mark a zone of uncertain weather. Problem solved. It’s just wrong. What happens during a period of lull in volcanology is that the report sent shows that no more volcanic ash is being sent for the time being and everyone focuses on the next problem spot, leaving a hole in the model that eventually disappears. This has just happened with map t+36 at https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/surface-druk. The pressure has dropped from High-1031 to High-1029. Not a big reality, but someone moved the volcano to another location to compensate for the model runs. I like to think I’m special. This is an obvious problem for angels, who are usually very quiet. So what they do is make trolls pick apart my work and make me curse at the trolls and lose my prestige.
