Aaron Dripps appeared in Marshall Circuit Court on May 28 with attorney William Deatherage.


BENTON, Ky. – Tuesday, May 28, was the fourth appearance for Aaron Dripps in connection with the death of Stephen Odom on January 25.

The hearing yielded no new information, but Dripps’ attorney addressed a motion by the prosecutor and agreed to provide information requested by the prosecutor during the discovery process.

Dripps was originally charged with murder and a convicted felon in possession of a gun. After a pretrial hearing in February, the case was sent to a grand jury, which added charges of purchasing/possession of drug paraphernalia, terroristic threatening in the third degree, possession of marijuana and trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, first offense , larger than four grams of cocaine.

According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a shooting on West Unity Church Road at approximately 5:34 p.m. The same press release claims Odom was pronounced dead at the scene.

During a hearing on February 7, Detective Aaron Lane testified that officers arrested Dripps and a woman named Jennifer Ramey upon arrival at the scene. Ramey claimed to be Odom’s girlfriend at the time of his death, but was found at Dripps’ home.

Before May 28, Dripps’ most recent court appearance was March 26. At that hearing, the additional charges were filed and the discovery process began.

The next hearing was scheduled for August 13 at 8:30 am
