There was always something special about rummaging through my grandmother’s jewelry drawer when I was a kid, picking through the earlobe-numbing chunky stud earrings and flashy yet nostalgic clip-on earrings. The world felt endless on my mother’s heels and my grandmother’s gold button jewelry when I was ten. For Heaven Mayhem founder Pia Mance, her late grandmother’s vintage jewelry isn’t just gilded goodness to throw on with a little black dress. way to drink cocktails with friends – it has grown into a multi-million dollar empire.
You may have caught a glimpse of Heaven Mayhem, the jewelry and accessories line Mance started in 2022, on your feed, whether it was in the ears of your best college friends or your parasocial celebrity besties. Hailey Bieber, Matilda Djerf, Aimee Song and Justine Skye are all fans, so of course the brand has only grown bigger in recent years thanks to massive celebrity support and viral social media appetites. But before Heaven Mayhem was Heaven Mayhem, Mance started out the same way we all did: slowly going through her mother and grandmother’s old things.
‘Growing up, I loved rummaging through my mother’s closet and rummaging through her clothes, shoes and tights, but I was always very drawn to the accessory choice as she had many of my late grandmother’s pieces from the 70’s. ’80s and ’90s,” says Mance. “Those pieces weren’t designer or anything, but they were all so well made, timeless and special to me. To be able to create similar pieces that I really resonate with has special meaning in my heart.”
