According to Perry’s autopsy report, obtained by The Blast, his cause of death was listed as acute effects of the drug Ketamine. Perry was using Ketamine Therapy for anxiety and depression at the time of his death, but his last known treatment under the supervision of a medical professional lasted more than a week before he passed away.
Since Perry’s autopsy report was released, questions have been raised surrounding his cause of death — including how Perry came into possession of the drug, as investigators concluded that “the exact method of ingestion of the drug found in his system is “unknown” .

After further investigation, The Blast discovered this Dr. AS André Atoianwho was listed in the autopsy report as Perry’s primary care physician, is the founder and medical director of Ketamine specialists (now known as Limbic Medical) – and he administers ketamine at home via microdosing.
Microdosing is the practice of ingesting or administering very small amounts of a drug (ketamine in this case) to take advantage of its “physiological actions while minimizing unwanted side effects.” In a 2022 interview, Dr. Andre Atoian that not only does he have patients come to his office for IV treatments of ketamine therapy, but he also prescribes microdosing at home.
Lower dosage ketamine is not FDA approved and those injections are used “off-label” to treat depression, pain and other mental/substance use disorders.
This latest discovery comes days after Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, called for an investigation into the doctors who treated Perryclaims the actor may have obtained Ketamine from a medical professional instead of from the street.
According to the autopsy, obtained by The Blast, Perry “visited a psychiatrist, Dr. Yaghamie [redacted] and was prescribed antidepressants.” His “current general practitioner was an anesthesiologist Dr. Ataoin [redacted].”
At the time of his death it is unclear whether Dr. Atoian was the medical professional who oversaw Perry’s final ketamine treatment.
Dr. Atoian also claims that there is no addiction associated with ketamine use, and he has given the drug to patients for months before taking them off “cold turkey” and has had no problems.
However, The Blast has discovered that although ketamine has been approved and legalized by the FDA since the 1970s for use as a general anesthetic, it can be abused as a recreational drug.

Perry’s “history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/emphysema, diabetes; past drug use – reportedly 19 months clean; A heavy tobacco user for many years, but not currently smoking; on ketamine infusion therapy, with the most recent therapy reported to have been one and a half weeks prior to death,” the autopsy report said.
