The Associated Press has released a new report citing Democratic pollsters and other officials who simply don’t understand why the public isn’t happy with the way Joe Biden has handled the economy.
Yes, it’s a real mystery.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that millions of Americans are struggling to pay for basic utilities like gas, food and heating energy. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the price of a dozen eggs tops $5 in some places.
From the Associated Press:
Biden enters 2024 with the economy strengthening, but voters feel terrible about it
President Joe Biden heads into next year’s election with a tough challenge: Just as the U.S. economy is strengthening, people still feel terrible about it.
Pollsters and economists say there has never been such a wide gap between the underlying health of the economy and public perception. The difference could be a deciding factor in whether the Democrat secures a second term next year. Republicans are using the dissatisfaction to put pressure on Biden, while the White House is having less success in its efforts to highlight economic progress.
“Things are getting better and people think things are going to get worse — and that’s the most dangerous part of this,” said Democratic pollster Celinda Lake, who has worked with Biden. Lake said voters no longer just want to see inflation fall, but they want an outright drop in prices, something that last happened on a large scale during the Great Depression.
“To be honest, I’m a little baffled by it,” she said.
The evidence of Biden’s terrible economics is everywhere.
