Jaja’s African hair braids tells the story of a day at Jaja’s vibrant Harlem braiding salon, where an eclectic group of West African immigrants work magic on the hair of neighborhood women. The play serves as a snapshot of the vibrant lives of the women in the community, from conflicts between braiders to impending wedding plans and all the dreams and secrets in between.
The new play opened on Broadway on October 3 to rave reviews – and two renewals. It was originally scheduled to close on October 29, but was previously extended until November 5. Now audiences get a chance to watch it through November 19 and see what all the fuss is about.
