-Brian Tracy
Goals and goal setting and a desire or intention to achieve these goals and objectives are undoubtedly the most compelling piece of the puzzle when trying to achieve anything worthwhile in life. And as Brian Tracy has outlined here, it is indeed the act of taking the first step and then following through with it that will separate the winners from the losers. Clearly defining what you want is where it all starts, and weight loss is no different! The strength of your objectives and the strength of your intention will fully contribute to the clarity and sharpness of outlining your goals. So if you really want to achieve permanent weight loss, you need to see yourself completely ‘slim’ or ‘lighter’ with absolute clarity! It can happen to you. You’ve heard it before; life is a journey, not a destination…
Enjoy the journey, but know where you are going, it will be easier to get there!
Brushing your teeth, washing your hair, regularly ‘showing up’ at work and sleeping are all common rituals, they are daily practices that promote or provide security, assurance, functionality or the opportunity to continue having or using something that you are likely to want to keep… Stop doing these rituals and there will be decay, collapse or unemployment, which will only cause a downward spiral of unpleasant events. While this sounds a bit funny, the reality is that your bodily functions or DID functions function in the same way: practice effective, proactive rituals daily and ta…da… you achieve, maintain or achieve the desired object or goal. Exercise and nutrition are often confusing topics, usually shrouded in mystery, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Knowledge and application of knowledge are not the same; they are quite separate and different. Knowing how to do something and doing it is where the line is drawn and having an intention, coupled with an objective, acts as the proverbial driver behind the wheel… and placing the intention in the subconscious mind is like Depressing the accelerator pedal, which in turn produces action or GOAL.
Do you remember being young and wanting something so badly that nothing else mattered? What drove you was desire and when you actually got that “object” of desire, then that was the intention that drove you to go out and get or “receive” that object. Goals or objectives motivate and generate power, you know… that get up and go, they are the steam that wakes you up, makes you work, helps you focus and helps in the process of achieving. Emotion connected to purpose is the fuel for performance. Develop a sense of purpose, a reason why and combine that purpose with your desire and your emotionally stimulated intention, write down this desire, this intention and this goal and since we are talking about weight loss, this could be that desire. With laser-focused accuracy, imagine a “clear picture” of how you see yourself in a “fighting” state. We call this ‘visualizing’ and stay focused using all these components and guess what… It will happen… Yes, time patience Persistence, effort and action are required but you will reap what you sow, that is an infallible fact. Positive reinforcement, this is the next phase now… Every suggestion you plant in your subconscious will be used if it is negative…. Negative results, if positive… Positive results! If you know what you need to do, but you can’t seem to do it, you’ve probably been sending negative or contradictory messages to your subconscious. The behavior that results from unconscious conditioning is more often called habits. Fortunately, you can reprogram your subconscious with positive instructions and become a being of positive habit just as easily as you can fall victim to negative habits. It all starts with a conscious decision and written goals.
Attention to intention
The mind… It’s a terrible thing… to waste it! I’m always amazed at the similarities we all share and on the other hand, amazed at how different we are. So simple, yet so complex… and when it comes to exercising our mental capabilities, well, this is where some show signs of mastery and others, like a sleeping giant slumbering! I’ve worked with thousands of people over the years, and what’s remarkable is that all the training and nutrition programs I’ve designed for such unique purposes, almost all fall into a similar distinctive mindset: either possessing the desire and intention to do something to achieve great things; or they feel like they are losing something they so desperately want to keep! The sine qua non or the result is: if you want to be amazed
