If getting dressed every morning is the biggest stress point of your day, you’re probably just missing a few core wardrobe items, items that you can grab again and again and style in dozens of different ways. Take a white button-down shirt for example. The sleeves can be rolled up or worn long, tucked in or untucked, layered or worn completely solo. A sweater can be worn around the shoulders or over it, and any pair of pants can really act as a partner, from jeans to trousers. By adding just one to your closet, you open yourself up to a wealth of outfit possibilities.
The proof of this lies in the different ways Jennifer Lawrence and Laura Harrier wore the classic shirt style, one in New York City and the other in Los Angeles. Lawrence wore a pair of folded sleeves from The Row, unbuttoned halfway and tucked into black belted trousers from the same brand for a night out with a friend. Across the country, Harrier opted for a more casual approach, styling her oversized button-down loose with blue jeans, ballet flats and a navy knit that was draped over her shoulders at one point. She also added her favorite Saint Laurent Le 5 À 7 shoulder bag and small sunglasses for her lunch date in Los Feliz with her fiancé Sam Jarou and their dog. See what I mean about endless possibilities?
