X CEO Elon Musk shared a meme about Iran and an angry Adam Kinzinger, the former Illinois congressman and member of the Democrats’ January 6 Committee, accused him of “loving” the rogue state and demanded that his military credentials contractor would be withdrawn.
Over the weekend, Musk posted a meme showing Iran surrounded by American flags meant to represent American military bases.
“Iran wants war,” the image says. “Look how close they put their country to our military bases.”
Musk added his own comment: “Oh the Iranian.”
Which, judging by his sense of humor, was probably the most important pun he wanted to share with his followers.
The problem is, as BBC journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), the map is not an accurate representation of the location of military bases.
Musk’s post is still active, although it appears to have a community note attached to it that can only be seen by contributors to the community note.

Kinzinger’s claws are out on Musk
Listen – misinformation is misinformation and should be expressed at every opportunity, no matter which side of the aisle you are on.
And Musk did indeed share a meme with false information. But he complied, even admitting that he was grateful for the Community Notes posting because it “proves that no one is free from correction!”
I like to be noticed – proves that no one is free from correction!
This is obviously a joke, but there is more than a grain of truth in it. We should strive to see things from the point of view of others.

That said, former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) should be the last person to be outraged by someone spreading peace propaganda, given his record.
Still, Kinzinger shared his outrage over Musk’s “joke meme,” calling the social media guru “dangerous” and demanding his military contractor licenses be revoked.
‘He’s such an idiot. HOW IS HE A MILITARY CONTRACTOR???” Kinzinger responded. “Tear his credentials.”
“This man is dangerous,” he added later. “He loves Iran now.”

Kinzinger’s demonic tendencies
Adam Kinzinger is no stranger to sharing misinformation. At the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Kinzinger happily shared a fake story about the “Ghost of Kiev,” complete with comedian Samuel Hyde’s face clearly photoshopped onto a pilot.

He circulated a fake quote allegedly made by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a means to suggest he was a Russian asset.
Anti-Trump Congressman @Adam Kinzinger fell for a hoax again. He believed Tucker Carlson’s fake quote and previously fell for Sam Hyde’s “Ghost of Kiev” pilot meme. Kinzinger was excoriated during Carlson’s show for his gullibility. https://t.co/8kPFwIy3Cv pic.twitter.com/4z7yL6KiH4

And he sat as one of the Republicans on the J6 committee, that if misinformation had been an Olympic event, he would have been standing tall with his hand 8 feet in the air on a 3-foot podium and received the gold.
That committee has consistently promoted easily debunked conspiracy theories and manipulated alleged evidence.

If someone doesn’t want to start World War III by going to war with Iran, does someone become ‘dangerous’?
Big if true.

Whatever you may think of Musk, he has consistently been on the side of peace and kept the United States out of war situations. He even reportedly prevented a nuclear attack by Russia on Ukraine.
And isn’t that really what Kinzinger is angry about? Anyone who does not want to see World War III is the enemy in his eyes.
Earlier this week, Musk mocked the former lawmaker for his post stating he was “mentally preparing” to leave Twitter.
Musk fired back: “He doesn’t like his lies being questioned.”
