More details about Matthew Perry’s death have emerged just days after he was found dead in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home.
“Friends” star Matthew Perry died Saturday of an apparent “drowning” at his Los Angeles home. He was 54.
Matthew Perry played Chandler Bing on the highly popular sitcom ‘Friends’ from 1994-2004.
Perry, who has been public about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, was reportedly found in a hot tub in his own home after police responded to a cardiac arrest call around 4pm local time.
In 2016, Perry said in an interview that he doesn’t remember filming three seasons of “Friends” because he was so deep in his addiction.
According to TMZ, no drugs were found at the scene.
Matthew Perry had reportedly played pickleball for two hours Saturday morning and sent his assistant to run some errands. When the assistant returned to Perry’s home, he found him unresponsive and called 911, TMZ reported.
According to Fox News, Perry was already dead when firefighters arrived at his home in the Pacific Palisades.
“A bystander raised the man’s head above the water and brought him to the edge, after which firefighters pulled him from the water,” according to a statement from Public Information Officer Erik Scott, according to Fox News.
Perry’s death remains under investigation. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office updated Perry’s cause of death as “delayed.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and Coroner’s Officer told Fox News, “An autopsy was completed today and toxicology results are still pending.”
Fox News reported:
Matthew Perry was already dead when Los Angeles City firefighters reached his home in the Pacific Palisades on Saturday, Fox News Digital can confirm.
Upon arrival, first responders found “an adult male unresponsive in a free-standing hot tub,” Public Information Officer Erik Scott explained.
“A bystander lifted the man’s head above the water and brought him to the edge, after which firefighters pulled him out of the water,” his statement said. “A quick medical assessment unfortunately revealed that the man was deceased before first responders arrived. The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner.
Perry posted one last terrifying photo of himself in a hot tub just days before he was found dead… in a hot tub.
