On Thursday morning, fans of the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer woke up to a pleasant surprise! The coming-of-age film “Crossroads,” Britney’s first feature film, returns to theaters for two nights only. The film will hit the big screen on October 23 and 25 as part of a fan event hosted by Trafalgar Releasing, Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records.
The film will be shown in 875 locations in 24 countries. According to Variety, the new screening will include a sing-along portion of two of the pop star’s songs that were part of the film but have never been seen on the big screen. The re-release also includes a limited edition ‘Crossroads’ merchandise line featuring shirts, sweatpants, jackets and reproductions of clothing worn by cast members in the film.
Britney’s highly anticipated memoir, ‘The Woman In Me’, will be released between its two screening dates on October 24th. In a statement, Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, said: “We are delighted […] create an opportunity for fans to enjoy this highly sought-after film in theaters, and to join Britney as she tells her story in her upcoming memoir.”

“Crossroads” was written by “Grey’s Anatomy” fame Shonda Rhimes and directed by Tamra Davis. The film tells the story of three childhood friends: Lucy (Britney Spears), Kit (Zoë Saldana) and Mimi (Taryn Manning). After eight years apart, the trio rediscovered their friendship during a cross-country ski trip. “Crossroads” originally premiered in 2002 and grossed $61 million worldwide despite negative reviews at the time.
“I recently rewatched ‘Crossroads’ and was so captivated by the time capsule of nostalgia that this incredible ensemble cast brings to the screen,” director Tamra Davis said in a statement. “Britney is absolutely stunning to watch, and Shonda shows us her early expertise in writing complicated female characters. We had the best time in the world shooting this photo and the connection the actresses make with their performances shows in every frame. I’m so grateful that ‘Crossroads’ will be available so people can see Britney shine again.”
