KC: What else is trending?
EH: Another is this trend we call ready-to-wear [last season]which is exactly this hyper-wearable trend that moves away from those really loud, hard-to-style pieces and is just super classic.
If you believe in it, you can have those pieces for the rest of your life, and they won’t be boring. You can still style them in really, really interesting ways using things like those chrome moments or lots of other styling methods. We’ve seen a lot of them this week. The entire Tibi collection really felt like a kind of ‘building blocks of your wardrobe’ collection. Proenza [Schouler] also had those loud moments, but the backbone of it were really classic, timeless pieces.
KC: At first glance, there was a general trend of calm on the catwalk. Sometimes you want to be shocked and awed by the visuals of it, but I do think the portability element… I’m glad designers are taking this into account, and it feels like the runway to the real road isn’t that big of a gap anymore .
