India accused of killing Sikh leader in Canada
Justin Trudeau said it was “unacceptable,” and Canada’s foreign minister said Ottawa had expelled a top Indian diplomat.
-
In recent weeks, Canadian security services have been actively investigating credible allegations of a possible link between Indian government agents and the murder of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Any involvement of a foreign government in the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty. In the strongest possible terms, I continue to urge the Government of India to work with Canada to get to the bottom of this matter. We have made it clear that we will not tolerate any form of foreign interference. As of today, and as a result, we have expelled a top Indian diplomat from Canada.
