Hunter Biden is suing the IRS alleging that their agents, claiming to be “whistleblowers,” violated the Privacy Act by disclosing his tax information to Republicans in the House of Representatives.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
In a 27-page lawsuit, Hunter Biden’s lawyers focused on a pair of IRS agents, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who said Justice Department officials delayed and obstructed the investigation into the president’s son. The younger Biden’s lawyers argued that by raising concerns about the handling of the criminal investigation, the two officers were disclosing information that must be kept secret under federal law.
….
“This lawsuit is not about the proper functioning of the whistleblower statute and process, nor about any official properly using these procedures to provide information to authorized government officials,” wrote Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell. “Rather, the lawsuit concerns the decision by IRS employees, their representatives and others to ignore their obligations and repeatedly and deliberately disclose and disseminate Mr. Biden’s protected tax return information, beyond the exceptions to disclosure of information in the law.”
Republicans in the House of Representatives and their witnesses did not follow the law. A person is protected under the Whistleblowers Act when testifying before Congress, but leaking private or classified information is not protected.
The Democrats in the House of Representatives announced this in a report the Republican “whistleblowers” are fakeas they have never filed a complaint of misconduct with any part of the government.
One of the Republican Party whistleblowers has been referred to the DOJ for prosecution for lying to Congress.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) confirmed that ‘Whistleblowers’ are on the payroll of Donald Trump’s allies.
So far, Republicans in the House of Representatives have found no evidence of President Biden’s wrongdoing, have had one of their witnesses referred for prosecution for lying, and have now gone after the IRS, which will cost taxpayers more money.
The entire investigation into Hunter Biden is an abuse of power fiasco that must end immediately.
