If there’s one thing NFL teams love to do, it’s bring back fan favorite players to cheer on the team before a big game. Just last week in Foxboro we saw Tom Brady take up the mantle of “Patriot for Life” even though he won a Super Bowl with another team.trying to acquire an ownership interest in yet another and New England definitely thought Drew Bledsoe was the better option. But it does not matter. It makes the fans happy, it allows the NFL to distract from issues like traumatic brain injury And racial discrimination lawsuits And violence against women. Anyway!
Part of the deal for returning beloved players is that they have a cushy chair for the game. Unfortunately for former Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes, Buffalo ownership didn’t get the memo. But then, they’ve had bigger fish to fry this week.
Spikes appeared on the field before the game to hype up the fans, so it’s safe to assume he was there at the invitation of, if not ownership, at least the people in charge of promotions. Here he is keeping his end of the bargain:

Listen to that crowd! You can’t ask for better than that from anyone. And then, after admirably doing what was asked of him, Spikes was taken by the team to enjoy undoubtedly the best seats in town…oh.

I definitely want to know so many things. 1) Who decided that this is the place for a former player to sit? 2) Can we get him something more comfortable than a plastic chair with a table sticking into his back? And 3) Why does this suite even exist? Does some poor, unhappy millionaire have these seats every other game during the season? Do the bills only pay for the fact that this monstrosity is regularly empty?
What made matters worse was that Spikes was the official Legend of the Game, chosen by the official Bills store! Doesn’t that mean you get better food? Come on, Buffalo. We know the Pegulas have had a tough week, but this isn’t it, and I can’t stress it enough.
