The number of streaming devices available are plentiful, but Roku’s easy-to-use players remain our clear favorite. The Roku platform is simple, easy to use, and not focused on any particular apps. That’s why Roku has claimed not one, but two top spots on our list of the best streaming devices for 2023. Right now it’s pretty limited choices. when it comes to deals on these top-rated streamers, but we’ve rounded up the best ways to save a few bucks.
The Roku Express 4K Plus is our best overall choiceespecially since it is usually cheaper than the Roku Streaming Stick 4K, including Dolby Vision. Meanwhile, the Roku Streambar is a great streamer-soundbar combo that’s perfect for smaller TVs and is now $5 off.
If you’re looking for a wired Ethernet connection, along with Dolby Vision, you might want to check out the flagship Roku Ultra. And if you’re willing to sacrifice a few features, you can get the Roku Ultra LT at Walmart for less than the regular Ultra.
Roku discounts don’t come around often, but you can save a few bucks right now on a handful of Roku streaming devices. Keep reading to see the best Roku deals. We update this story often to reflect current prices.
Today’s best Roku deals
The discounts on our favorite streamer are currently small. The only price difference we see is a small $1 discount at Walmart, although in the past we’ve seen it on sale for as much as $10 off at both Walmart and Amazon. We like the Roku operating system because it has the most streaming app options, the simplest interface of any streaming platform, and the best search. It’s also content-agnostic: it doesn’t push one media streaming service provider, like Amazon Prime Video or Apple, over another. The Express 4K Plus is one of the cheapest streaming TV options with 4K HDR. (Even if your current TV doesn’t support these formats, your next one probably will.) Thanks to the AirPlay update, this Roku device is one of the cheapest ways to connect your iPhone or other Apple device to your TV. Read our Roku Express 4K Plus review.
The Roku Streaming Stick 4K is only $1 off at Walmart, and that’s the only price difference we’re seeing right now. It costs $10 more than the Roku Express 4K Plus. The differences between the two? Along with a stick-like design, Dolby Vision HDR is the main difference between the two, and this is ostensibly why the Streaming Stick 4K is worth more than its sibling.
The Roku Express is compact, only streams in HD and comes with an HDMI cable, but lacks a power supply to connect it to. You’ll need to make sure you connect the Express to your TV’s USB port to make it work. It also doesn’t come with a smart remote, so you won’t be able to control your TV’s power, volume, and input buttons with this remote. To use voice control, you’ll need both your TV’s original remote and a smart speaker or other receiver. It’s a pretty big hassle, so it might make more sense to spend the extra money for the Roku Streaming Stick 4K.
The Roku Streambar, a combination soundbar and 4K HDR streamer, is an excellent way to “smartify” a bedroom TV with improved sound and streaming in one fell swoop. This compact speaker outperforms the sound of almost any television and is especially good at taking hard-to-understand dialogue to the next level. Very rarely does the Streambar price drop to $100 for a $30 savings, but the most you’ll save is $5 at Amazon.

Walmart’s exclusive version of the Roku Ultra is nearly identical to the main Ultra and features a similar box design, an Ethernet port, and support for 4K HDR with Dolby Vision. It comes with a remote control with a headphone jack for private listening.
As for the differences between the Ultra and the Ultra LT? With this cheaper option you give up Dolby Atmos support, a USB port, personal shortcuts on the remote and the (very useful) remote finder function. At $80, it’s $20 less than the regular Roku Ultra.
The Roku Ultra, the company’s flagship standalone streamer, offers more conveniences than some other Roku models. It features Dolby Vision video, faster responses, improved Wi-Fi, and a wired Ethernet port – especially welcome if your home Wi-Fi is congested. The 2022 model is virtually identical to the previous versions, but now comes bundled with the excellent Voice Remote Pro. The Ultra is easy to install and could be worth the upgrade for anyone interested in a fast streaming device with Dolby Vision and a wired Ethernet port. It’s currently selling at or near full price, but can occasionally be found at Amazon and Roku for $20 off.
There are currently no discounts on the step-up Streambar Pro, but we see the occasional $25-$30 price drop. This more advanced Roku soundbar has larger 2.5-inch drivers for a richer sound profile, and adds some additional features, including support for virtual surround sound, personal keyboard shortcuts, and a lost distance finder via the Roku app.

The Roku Streaming Stick 4K Plus includes the exact same Roku Streaming Stick 4K listed above with the new, mostly separate, Roku Voice Remote Pro. The Voice Remote Pro, which typically costs $30, largely retains the look of the company’s other remotes, but notably comes with a center microphone for voice control, a headphone jack for private listening, and a rechargeable battery. Perhaps the best thing about the new remote is that you can simply say, “Hey, Roku, find my remote,” to have the clicker beep wherever it is – a game-changer for those who are constantly shaking the couch cushions. are searching. And Roku remotes can drain batteries quickly, so using rechargeable remotes means you no longer need to keep a supply of AAs on hand.
Roku also has a remote finder that works with any Roku remote with a built-in speaker, but that type of remote isn’t included with the original Streaming Stick 4K. If you’re the type of person who tends to misplace TV remotes, upgrading to the Roku Streaming Stick 4K Plus – and the Voice Remote Pro that comes with it – could be totally worth it.
The Streaming Stick 4K Plus is rarely discounted and is currently selling at or near full price.
