The future of batteries
French battery maker Verkor has secured more than 2 billion euros (about $2.1 billion) to build its gigafactory in Dunkirk, which should be operational in 2025, with an initial production capacity of 16 GWh/year.
There is a lot to discuss about gigafactories, the future of batteries and the green transition. For example, this demand is not only due to electric vehicles. Or what recycling could look like. But what struck me most about Verkor’s announcement is where the funding comes from.
