Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande is in high demand. Arsenal is one of the interested clubs.
Sporting Lisbon signed 19-year-old Ousmane Diomande from FC Midtjylland in Denmark last winter.
During the spring, the Ivorian national team player scored once in 17 competitive matches for Sporting.
This season, the central defender provided one assist in four league games. Diomande has been linked to Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle in the past.
According to Portuguese Record, Arsenal offered 35 million euros for the midfielder this summer, but Sporting refused.
Arsenal have agreed to try again because Mikel Arteta wants the talent, the publication said. However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the English are not alone.
“Arsenal have been closely linked by the Portuguese press with Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande. I have been told he is a player they have been looking for for a long time, but it is not just Arsenal,” he told CaughtOffside.
– There are three or four clubs following Diomande for the future, but no negotiations ever took place this summer because he was not for sale, Romano continues.
