If you know me, you are probably aware of my keen interest in trends that many would consider controversial. There are of course the hot pants and underwear that is only worn with tights (no pants). I wear low rise jeans more than high rise jeans these days and loved wedges before they came back. Although I often describe my style as classic and minimal, my obsession with other pieces and styling techniques might say otherwise. So it should come as no surprise that a particular item caught my eye at Tory Burch’s Spring/Summer 2024 runway show earlier this week—one that, for those who dressed from early to mid-childhood, might require some minor details could entail. resists.
The silhouette in question is capri pants, which haven’t been done in the chicest way in recent years, but got a great facelift in Burch’s spring collection, which featured three tailored versions of the anti-pee pants, paired with blazers and matching women’s jackets, not to mention sporty sunglasses, retro books and shoes with toe rings. Once so uncool, the sight of capris on the show immediately turned my perception of them upside down, making me immediately want to leave the show and go shopping for pairs to add to my early fall wardrobe.
