Los Angeles, California – Now skateboarders in the so-called “City of Angels” are acting like absolute devils.
KTLA reported that the second annual Skate Jam in Hollywood turned into a riot on Saturday evening. The contest, organized by F***ing Awesome World Entertainment and Adidas Skateboarding, started at 4:30 p.m. local time on the 1600 block of Cherokee Avenue, but turned violent three hours later, according to police. Before the violence broke out, the Daily Mail reported that skaters were performing stunts over an old LAPD police car.
NBC 4 News LA reports that hundreds of people attended the event. It is not known how many of them were guilty of criminal activities.
The video shows the crowd setting fire to trash cans, throwing bottles and setting off fireworks. They also vandalized an LA Fire Department vehicle with graffiti.
The footage shows participants jumping onto the police car as the fires spread.
The LA Times notes that dozens of people wandered around as the car burned, and some skated up the driveway toward the flames. Motorcyclists also performed stunts as beaming attendees took selfies.
The police car is eventually completely burned by the madmen, with the windows smashed.
Officers were attacked with rocks and bottles by attendees when they arrived on the scene to disperse the crowd, according to KTLA. The police managed to restore order and arrested a handful of people.
NBC 4 News LA also reports that fights broke out among attendees during the commotion.
It is currently unknown what caused the riot.
KTLA reports that three people have been arrested and charged with vandalism so far.
