We recently took a trip to Connecticut to enjoy some cooler weather on the coast. It was so nice to get away from the crazy heat wave we’ve been experiencing and I left with a sense of excitement for fall! It was also the perfect time to try out Vineyard Vines’ latest fall women’s collection. Their latest collections consist of classic basics, gorgeous fall hues and fun fall layering, all of which are worth putting on my fall wish list! Today I’m going to highlight a few of my Vineyard Vines favorites and share some tips on how to layer for cold weather so we’re all prepared when it finally arrives. Not that you’ll ever see me wishing the summer is gone!

ABOUT VINEYARD VINE LADIES
Vineyard Vines was founded in 1998 by brothers Shep and Ian, who quit their jobs at the company to build a fashion empire. The brand is based on the slogan ‘Every Day Should Feel This Good’ with a preppy, fun whale as its signature logo. In the early years, the brand focused on menswear and their main item was silk ties. In recent decades, however, they have expanded to include Vineyard Vines’ women’s and children’s collections. Vineyard Vines is known for their classics, like their signature half-zip whale tote bag. And their fall collection is no exception! Their new arrivals include so many great staples: this cable knit sweater and these kick flare cords for starters. But it doesn’t stop at the classics. I’m swooning over their incredible fashion pieces like this cricket jersey and this silk dress! You can also find wide-leg khaki pants, satin slips and pearl earrings to complete any fall outfit.
The Vineyard Vines fall color palette for women consists of classics such as navy blue and cream and also some very nice color accents. This red-orange hue of the cocktail sauce and this British race green color tickle my heart!

HOW TO LAYER FOR COLD WEATHER
As you may have noticed, I have a soft spot for layering. Wearing blazers and jackets over tops, draping sweaters over my shoulders, stacking different shades of the same color on top of each other… I love it all! And it’s not just during fall, but I’m into layering all year round (unless it’s terribly hot!) I think layering is an easy way to add color and dimension to an outfit. In the colder months they will of course also keep you warm!
So when I got my hands on these new arrivals from Vineyard Vines for women, I couldn’t resist putting together some layered looks for fall. And with the season fast approaching, I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite tips on how to layer in cold weather. Because even during the autumn and winter months it is more than possible to stay cozy and fashionable!
1. BRIGHT AND COLORFUL SOCKS
Adding bright and colorful socks is a fun (and affordable!) way to stay warm with a pop of color. You can wear these under heels with dresses or under loafers with jeans or trousers.
2. AN OVER-THE-SHOULDER JACKET
This is a no-brainer, easy option! Basically, every time I leave the house and it’s cool outside, you see me with a jacket on or over my shoulders. Plus, you can replace a jacket with a blazer for a lightweight option.
3. COLLARS AND CUFFS
How to wear a collared top as a layer in cold weather? Use the collar and cuff for contrast! Seeing a few snippets of these pieces under a sweater instantly takes the look to the next level.
4. PROTECT YOUR NECK
Add a turtleneck for an easy upgrade. There are so many ways to do this: wear one under a dress, a sweater or a blazer. And don’t be afraid to wear a turtleneck under an oxford, like I did with the Vineyard Vines newcomers!
5. STAY INVESTED
A cardigan is the perfect way to layer up, while still letting your sweater shine! The addition of a puffer vest on top of this Vineyard Vines varsity sweater added a delightful pop of color without taking away from the rest of the outfit. Plus it helps to keep warm!
6. DOUBLE PROBLEMS
Double sweaters, double fun! I’m a big fan of layering sweaters and wearing a sweater over your shoulders for an extra pop of color.
7. BEST DRESSED
Turn a dress into a skirt by adding a button-down and cable knit – easy peasy! I love the added depth, texture and color this layering trick brought to the pink satin slip dress outfit above.
8. MEET KNEE COVER
How can you layer for cold weather on a budget? Try layering your shoes! Just a peak of a high sock gives a unique element to the outfit and provides extra warmth.
9. DON’T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE
Combine necklaces, wear a watch over a sweater or add a classic pair of earrings. There are so many ways to stack accessories. As with this Vineyard Vines look, adding a crossbody is always the perfect finishing touch!
10. MONOCHROMATIC LOVE
If you’re layering for cold weather, don’t be afraid to add monochromatic pieces. Combining products in different shades of the same color is bold and fun! You can also break it up with accents of other colors in your accessories or in a collared shirt underneath.

VINEYARD VINES AUTUMN COLLECTION FOR WOMEN
Okay, now that I’ve shared some tips on how to layer in cold weather, I want to go back and highlight some additional Vineyard Vines pieces that I love. There are really so many fun ones this season!
Their cashmere cable knit sweater is super soft and so heavy for fall. If you’re not much of a cable enthusiast, they also offer a great, easy solution crew neck sweater.
