One year ago today: Video of a thunderstorm passing over Greensboro, Maryland around 5:00 PM on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2023. At approximately 10:10 AM, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Washington DC metropolitan areas and Baltimore and the entire Delmarva Peninsula. As the day progressed, a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moved westward from the Appalachians and continued east toward Washington DC and Baltimore. The line continued, but weakened somewhat as it moved across the still cold waters of the Chesapeake Bay around 3 p.m. The line of storms produced some hail and destructive winds in some areas, but was only a thunderstorm as it approached Caroline County and the city of Greensboro. However, the storms did indeed intensify again as they moved eastward over the warmer land and into Delaware. #weather #thunderstorm #Maryland submitted by /u/ravens326 |
