This season I’m going back to basics and delving into the pillars of my wardrobe to ensure that I have a very strong foundation for putting together outfits this spring. This search means my everyday items are under a microscope as I assess which pieces carry the most weight and might be worth having more of.
During this process I’ve come to realize that my shoe collection has overcomplicated itself, as nine times out of ten when I get dressed in the morning I reach for a simple black flat shoe.
It’s hard to resist the temptation of the classic shoe. Whether you pair it with my favorite jeans, wide-leg trousers or a flowing cotton dress, a black flat simply works best. I’m not the only one suffering from the Black-Flat bug. Editors, influencers and stylists return to this hard-working shoe season after season.
A black flat shoe, available in the form of sturdy loafers, graceful Mary Janes or sleek pointed-toe slingbacks, can have many faces, but they all offer comfort and elegance.
All the high street and designer brands have come out to celebrate the humble, yet integral shoe staple. From Reformation and H&M, all the way to Toteme and Jimmy Choo, scroll on to discover my edit of the best black flats for women to shop this spring.
