As we inch closer to spring, I’ve watched in awe as the fashion folks around me have managed to hone smart, cozy, and stylish wardrobe rotations that seem to capture the current fashion climate while maintaining a timeless undertone. Inspired by these looks, I spent some time discovering the new seasonal changes that keep classic looks fresh.
Up there, with leopard-print layers and gray crew-neck cardigans, fashion folk have been making smart footwear decisions lately, many of which have emerged from bigger trends for the new season. The fanciest of them all? The trend of red flat shoes. Capitalizing on the growing preference for flats over heels, the style set completes their everyday looks with a pop of red, creating a fresh finishing touch that can breathe new life into almost any outfit.
We’ve seen red ballerinas leading the way in recent months, but this season fashion people are going one step further: they’re buying red flats in all their forms. From cool red loafers to slinky red slingbacks and bright red sneakers, the red shoe trend has certainly found its (flat) feet. Not only that, but chili red has also been a major trend in clothing and bags for the past two seasons. I have a feeling that by the time Fashion Month is over in March, we will confirm that it will continue for Fall/Winter 2024. I’ll be sure to update you on that once the shows take place, but I’m willing to follow the trend for the rest of the year as well.
The red flat shoe trend heightens the feel of a simple jeans and T-shirt look and will also go well with white cotton dresses or light linen trousers in the summer. Newly inspired to enlighten those in the know, I’ve rounded up the best red flats available for shopping right now. Read on to discover my edit below.
