Yes, that’s right, I’m still looking for the best products for glowing, glowing skin. You might notice that I write a lot about this topic because it’s really become my mission to test every highlighter, primer, tinted moisturizer, and foundation on the market to see which ones will deliver the most radiant results. During this search I came to the realization that foundation is not really for me. Instead, I much prefer a lightweight foundation that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. That’s why I’ve turned my attention to skin tints and tinted moisturizers to see which ones I can add to my collection. Next on the list? None other than the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer from Nars.
Junior Beauty Editor, Grace Lindsay, tests the Nars Tinted Moisturiser.
I’m sure you already know this product as it has become somewhat of a cult-like moisturizer in the beauty world. I’m a big fan of Nars products, from the brand’s iconic blushes to its creamy concealers, but I had yet to try the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, until now. As soon as I got my hands on this product, I couldn’t wait to test it out to see if it would deliver on its promises of a radiant, natural finish, so keep scrolling to read my review and see how I fared. ..
My review of the Nars tinted moisturizer
The formula
First, let’s talk about the formula. As described by the brand, this tinted day cream “hydrates and softens” the skin, with the added bonus of SPF 30. Of course, I would always recommend applying an SPF before makeup, but I certainly like that this one also contains extra protection. Not only does it come with SPF, but the oil-free formula also contains Vitamin C and French Polynesian Kopara to hydrate and brighten the complexion. Personally, I’m a big fan of makeup with added skincare benefits, so after reading about the formula online, I really couldn’t wait to get this on my skin.
There are 16 shades available, and at first I wasn’t sure what to go for. Luckily for me, the website has a really handy color matching tool that can help you find the best option. I ultimately chose two shades (light 1.2 and light 3), because sometimes I like my makeup to look a bit warmer. After trying them both, I’d say light 3 is my favorite, but I also like to mix them together on days when I’m not as tanned.
I first tasted the product on my hands and was immediately impressed with how light it felt. I applied it to my skin with both my hands and a brush, and both methods were so easy thanks to the blendable formula. I’ve been struggling with dry patches of skin lately, but this one glided on and didn’t stick to any part of my skin, which was a big win. If I’m being completely honest, after wearing it all day, I completely forgot I had any makeup on at all. That is how light is this.
The cover
As with most tinted moisturizers, I wasn’t expecting huge coverage. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how my skin looked after applying a light layer of this. Not only did it even out my skin tone, but my blemishes and dark circles were a lot less noticeable. Don’t get me wrong, I would probably still go in with concealer under my eyes, but I didn’t feel like I needed to put anything extra on the rest of my face. Normally I find that if a foundation has more coverage you can really see the makeup on the skin, but thanks to the lightweight, blendable formula, my complexion still looked very natural.
The verdict
So, how would I rate this tinted moisturizer? If you asked me to rate it out of ten, I would definitely give it a solid eight. The formula itself is incredible, it was so easy to apply and I loved the way it made my skin look. That being said, I felt like it gave me a Real glossy finish? Probably not. Yes, my skin looked more radiant, and yes, I felt like my skin had a natural, subtle glow, but if you want that super dewy look, I recommend mixing some glow drops into the formula or a dewy setting to use, spray over it. Personally, I like to use my Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops for this for the desired finish.
Even though it’s not exactly dewy, I still love the way my skin looks, and it’s safe to say that this product has become a staple in my collection for more no-makeup makeup days. At £37 it’s certainly not cheap, but a little goes a long way, so in my opinion it’s a worthwhile investment.
Pros:
– Lightweight formula
– Glides over the skin
– Good coverage
– Gives a natural finish
Cons:
– More of an investment
– Not as shiny as expected (but definitely radiant enough for me)
