When it’s time to talk about the holidays, all I can focus on are the amazing makeup looks I see all over social media and on the streets of New York. Sure, the bright lights, festive events, and glamorous outfits are fun, but all I want this season is a beauty inspiration guide that I can use for the holidays and beyond. Fortunately, the beauty experts in my network can give you and me exactly what we are looking for. I enlisted fellow editor Katie Berohn and digital creators Tabitha Qassom and Tamara Marbury to create makeup looks worth copying and pasting onto your mood boards for the rest of 2023 and beyond—and it certainly worked.
They each created a makeup look that ties into the beauty trends we’ve seen this year, and every product they used is from Sephora at Kohl’s. (That’s no surprise.) It has an elite collection of all your favorite beauty brands, plus a “clean beauty” category and the ability to filter skincare products by age, so you have the best products at your fingertips. I’ve been taking notes on these looks and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share them with you all. Keep scrolling for the makeup looks you’ll be recreating in 2024.
“I’m probably one of those rare people who wears a red lip almost every day. But I usually keep the rest of my daily makeup simple. My advice for wearing a glamorous look after the holidays would be to pick your favorite part of your holiday look, whether that’s a bold lip or glitter eyeshadow, and make it the centerpiece of your everyday looks. If you choose one focal point and keep the rest of your look more subdued, you can easily transition any holiday look. I would wear this to a party, but I would also wear it to dinner with friends, a family gathering, or a work event. It’s versatile, but still perfect for a special occasion. Sephora at Kohl’s has the most coveted makeup products at truly unbeatable prices.”
“I started with the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes palette. After creating a smoky eye by applying the deeper matte shades in the outer corners of the eyes, I drew a subtle cat eye with the Too Faced liner. I chose to use two different mascaras for the most dramatic effect. I used Tower 28 mascara on my top lashes for length and curl. For my lower lashes I just wanted some length, so I used Ilia Limitless Lash mascara to add subtle definition. I applied a dot of Rare Beauty blush to the upper part of my cheeks and blended it for a pop of color. I then used Charlotte Tilbury lipstick to create a bold, eye-catching red lip. I love how festive it is yet versatile.”
“I live in SoCal and am always at the beach, so that sun-kissed look is what I tend to gravitate towards all year round. During the holidays I like to add an even darker blush for that extra pop! I love that all the products I wear fall under Sephora on Kohl’s clean beauty list and that so many of the products are interchangeable and can be used year round. Quick tip for all my ladies on the go: if you’re in a pinch and only have blush or lip color on you, use it on your eyelids and lips. Don’t shy away from color on your lips all year round! Have fun with your look, whatever the occasion; tomorrow you won’t be so young!”
“I always start by prepping my skin with a moisturizer or oil. The cooler weather has made my skin extra dry, so I love Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream. It instantly softens fine lines while hydrating and plumping my skin the moisturizer sinks into my skin, I apply the holy grail of brow gel, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze. My brows are quite unruly, and this is the only gel I’ve found that keeps them in place. It has thousands of five-star reviews for good reason! For the ultimate glow, I use Saie’s Glowy Super Gel. They make a universal shade that I love, but when I want extra bronze, I use the shade Sunglow. It’s a lightweight luminizer that you can wear alone or mix with foundation or a tinted moisturizer. There isn’t a single person I’ve told to try this who hasn’t fallen in love.
“Next is Ilia’s skin tint. This lightweight mineral serum has SPF 40 and is clinically proven to improve the appearance of dryness and blemishes and give your skin a dewy finish. I then go in with Bronzino from Tower 28 in West Coast, which I love to add to my cheekbones, jawline, forehead and nose for an illuminating glow. Then I apply Merit’s cream blush, which gives just a hint of color and long-lasting shine. Finally, I apply Merit’s lipstick , which gives my lips the ultimate hydration and soft satin finish.”
“I like my everyday makeup to look naturally flawless, so I use a lot of neutral or deep shades. This holiday season, I want to take that look to the next level with metallic colors that match my skin tone. It still gives flawless nude shades that I love for my everyday look, but with a bit of sparkle and glamour. I would wear this look to a holiday party, gala or formal event in the new year. Sephora at Kohl’s is my go-to for my makeup looks because I can easily filter by product type and get a curated list of exactly what I need. It has the best of the best products, so I go to the checkout with confidence.”
“The Huda Beauty Empowered eyeshadow palette is made for a glamorous look. It has so many metallic colors to create a sparkling eye. If you want to create a winged eye, you need the Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner. I pulled one of my wings a little too low, and it was easy to immediately wipe away and start over. But once I drew it perfectly, it stayed in place. The Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara completes the dramatic eye. Nars blush in Savage is perfect for this glamorous look because it has a slight metallic sheen, so it doubles as a blush and highlighter. Then, because you have shine on the eyes and cheeks, you need the Charlotte Tilbury nude lip in Super Fabulous, so that your lip does not compete with the eye. Finish the nude lip with the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Honey Waffles to add a little shine.”
