At a joint press conference with President Zelenskyy, President Biden dissected the lies that Republicans are using to oppose aid to Ukraine.
Biden was asked what the strategy is for the US in Ukraine, and he replied:
Let’s put this into perspective. Do you remember how far Ukraine has come? Russia has failed, failed so far in its attempt to wipe Ukraine off the map and incorporate it into Russia. Ukraine has taken back more than 50% of its territory seized since February 22 and it has pushed back the Russian Navy, the Russian Navy. Ukraine can therefore export grain and steel to the world via the Black Sea.
And thanks to the incredible courage of the Ukrainian people and the bipartisan support of our Congress, but it’s not just American support. There are more than fifty countries, fifty countries that are helping Ukraine with military, economic and humanitarian aid. On burden sharing, the United States has provided $75 billion and our allies and partners have provided $100 billion, and more than 90% of our security assistance to Ukraine is spent in the United States to supply Ukraine with weapons and to replenish our stocks. building our industrial base. We must ensure that Putin continues to fail in Ukraine.

When a Republican says others should do their fair share to support Ukraine, they are lying. Other allies already spend more money than the US. If the Republicans are suggesting that the US is giving money to Ukraine, that’s another lie. 90% of the money earmarked for security assistance to Ukraine is spent in the United States.
The world is watching to see whether the world’s most important democracy will take action and help Ukraine protect its democracy.
Republicans who oppose aid to Ukraine are not being fair to the American people.
Not only is their opposition helping dictator Putin destroy a democracy, they are also weakening and damaging the United States.
