UPDATE: December 10, 2023, 2:29 PM EST Beeper Mini has discovered a way for Android users to send their text messages as iMessage-based, blue bubbles to iPhone users, but according to The Verge, Apple doesn’t have it. The Cupertino-based tech giant blocked “techniques that exploit fake credentials to access iMessage,” according to Apple’s senior PR representative Nadine Haija. According to Haija, this is intended to protect the security and privacy of Apple users.
“It’s not easy being green,” Kermit the Frog once said – and that couldn’t be more true if you’re an Android user in a pro-iPhone environment. iDevice users don’t want to date you, friends scold you for crippling group texts, and people assume you’re poor.

As a tech reviewer who owns both iPhone and Android phones, I couldn’t care less if my friends protest when I text them using my Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. They will deal. However, if you’re tired of iPhone users bullying you, there’s a solution: the Beeper Mini app.
Beeper Mini brings iMessage to Android devices
No, attempts to bring iMessage to Android aren’t new, but the way the Beeper Mini does it is.

Other apps “iPhonize” Android phones by sending texts through a Mac hosted in the cloud, according to The Verge. However, this is a security nightmare. Sunbird and Nothing Chats had to shut down their iMessage to Android services due to serious uncertainties. Beeper Mini, on the other hand, does things differently.
The developers came up with a way to link a phone number to iMessage, send messages directly to Apple’s servers, and receive messages back to the phone seamlessly within the app.
“We jailbroken iPhones and then dug deep into the operating system to see how everything worked,” Beeper CEO Eric Migicovsky told The Verge. “We then wrote new code from scratch to reproduce everything in our Android app.”

Migicovsky claims that Beeper Mini is safe. It cannot see contacts or messages. According to Ars Technica, you don’t even need an Apple ID to set it up.
To top it all off, iPhone users will be none the wiser that you’re an Android owner in disguise.
Apple is blocking Pieper Mini’s efforts
Beeper Mini’s success was short-lived. Less than a week after launch, there were reports on Reddit that users were plagued by technical issues. Unfortunately for the Beeper Mini team (en happy for the Apple team), its efforts to bring iMessage to Android users have been blocked, according to a statement Apple provided to The Verge.
“We have taken steps to protect our users by blocking techniques that exploit fake credentials to access iMessage. These techniques posed significant risks to user security and privacy, including the potential for exposure to metadata and enabling junk messages, spam and phishing attacks,” said Nadine Haija, Apple’s senior PR manager.
In response to Apple’s blocking efforts, Beeper Mini posted the following tweet to his computer official X page:
“Work continues to resolve the issue that caused the Beeper Mini to malfunction. We know how difficult this has been for those who enjoyed using the Beeper Mini, and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience. However, we feel good and hoping for good results news to share soon.”
How much does the Beeper Mini cost?
Beeper Mini once set users back $1.99 per month on the Google Play Store, but at the time of writing it has been pulled from the Android App Store.
