New York Fashion Week always brings with it a whole host of stylish outfit inspiration, whether it comes from editors, influencers, stylists, catwalk collections or celebrities. Attendees and designers alike work for weeks and even months to perfect what will be shown during the week-long event, so naturally the resulting ensembles are often a great success. But sometimes the style during Fashion Week can be a bit over the top. And because my style is minimal rather than maximal, I always appreciate it when someone introduces an outfit that whispers instead of shouts.
One such person is Laura Harrier, who attended a NYFW kickoff party for Fossil wearing a deep V turtleneck LBD with chest pockets and a maxi hemline with a gold chain and black boots. It’s exactly the kind of look I talk about endlessly with my friends and colleagues, swooning over the timeless appeal and sexy yet sophisticated elegance of it all. Luckily, it didn’t take me long to find a similarly priced $89 black dress from Nordstrom’s own label Open Edit, a brand every editor keeps in their back pocket that gives off an almost exact vibe to Harrier’s. And now that NYFW is still going really well, I just have to have it to wear, like: tomorrow. Shop the LBD where I stay for my own Fashion Week events and even more beautiful black dresses for fall below.
