Dempsey Wilkinson And Statler Riley‘s relationship may have reached a breaking point when they discussed the possibility of having children.
In We weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, September 10 episode of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Daysthe friends candidly discuss the future of their relationship.
“I really want clarity from Statler about whether she wants children or not,” Dempsey, 28, said in a confessional. “Because if we want different things, our entire relationship can be a waste of time.”
The footage then cuts to Dempsey and Statler, 33, having dinner while the former asks her partner about possibly getting married and starting a family.
“Why do you want children? Why?” Statler answers before her friend bursts into tears, explaining that “children make the world a better place.”
Statler, for her part, is indecisive about the prospect of having children. “It seems like a lot of work and a lot of money,” she said, noting that being adopted herself makes her wary of putting those struggles on a baby in a similar position. “I don’t know if I have the emotional and mental willpower. I don’t feel like I have that mother bone in me.”

TLC (2)Although Dempsey was hopeful about adoption, Statler explained that she is still going through her own struggles.
“I think a lot of people go into adoption just thinking it’s all a pretty dory and the kid will thank you and everything will be easy,” Statler said in a confessional. “That’s just not the case. I was taken away almost immediately after birth, so I always felt like that missing part of me was missing, and I still have a lot of adopted trauma that I haven’t worked through.”
She continued: “It’s honestly a little triggering to have these kinds of conversations.”
The clip ends tensely when Dempsey proclaims that one day she will “have a child,” either alone or with a partner.
Dempsey, who is from Great Britain, and Statler connected online for the first time. After speaking only through social media for over seven months, they finally met in person 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days. The two women often argued about topics including a timeline for moving in together and how their loved ones reacted to their relationship.
